- In their campaign against banning incandescent bulbs, which were phased out this week, the Daily Mail hysterically claimed that energy saving lightbulbs cause cancer. It’s not their only such claim – someone has trawled the Daily Mail archives for all the things they claim either cause or cure cancer, and you can read their grand A-Z here.
- The Cayman Islands are almost bankrupt. That puts them in a bit of a quandary. Most states would simply levy taxes to replenish the public coffers, but if they do that, their status as a tax haven would vanish and so would their source of income. They applied to the British government for a bailout instead, which they wisely declined.
