Questions I asked myself this week

  • With oil prices up by over a third in the last year, oil companies are set for massive profits. So why, in a time of austerity cuts, did every single Republican in the US vote to keep subsidies to oil companies?
  • RBS funds tar sands projects and was host to the 2009 Climate Camp in recognition of that fact. Who decided it would be okay to let them sponsor Climate Week?
  • Would you like some real-time oil depletion widgets for your website? I can’t use them here, but they’re rather neat.
  • Human urine is one of the fastest-acting, most excellent sources of nitrogen, phosphorous, potassium and trace elements for plants, delivered in a form that’s perfect for assimilation.” Does my commitment to organic gardening extend to urinating in the garden?
  • And how long does it take an insurance company to pay out? My household is two laptops and a handbag down after a burglary this week.
