The Emperor’s New Clothes is a new documentary about inequality in Britain. It’s presented by Russell Brand in a crusading Michael Moore style, and that may be enough information for you to know whether you’re going to enjoy it or not. It’s directed by Michael Winterbottom, who’s made some great documentaries in the past, so it’s a promising combination.
We know that there is serious inequality in Britain, so the film’s message is not new. Somehow the issue continues to be ignored though, and if the politicians won’t talk about it in ways that engage ordinary people, then perhaps comedians can help out.
The film is partly inspired by Oxfam‘s findings on inequality, and they are hosting a number of screenings. You can find the film in cinemas or watch it on demand.
