  1. British homes are energy gobblers, and it costs people big money too. Swedish standards of construction are required. I am saving a fortune in energy costs since moving from the UK, and that was Brighton when heating was only one mid-October to mid-April, if that. The trouble is all the old buildings with 9 inch brickwork, and the detached and semi-detached houses with three or four outside walls.

  2. Yes, we’re really trailing behind on that. I got to know our Polish builders rather well when we renovating our house, and they always said that Polish people are much more discerning about what they want when it comes to efficiency. There are any number of techniques or materials that they regularly use that are unknown here.
