It’s an eye opener.
EU should impose preconditions on Bangladesh tanneries before accepting the product that in now way environment would be polluted.
Bangladesh government should also take necessary steps to shift the tanneries to the new location with water treatment facilities.Bangladesh government so far couldn’t create enough political and administrative pressure on the tannery owners to shift their factories.
The strict adherence to the preconditions may compel the factory owners to accept the government move.
I think the brands buying the leather should invest in a one-off payment to help that move to happen. Ultimately it’s them that need to be held accountable for the processes behind the final product.
