The Prix Pictet is a major new photography prize that focuses on sustainability. The calibre of the competition is really quite something. Edward Burtynky features, Chris Jordan‘s Katrina aftermath project is shortlisted, two of my favourite photographers.
The theme for this year is water, and this has been imaginatively interpreted. Jules Spinatch has a series on ‘snow management’, Benoit Aquin focuses on its absence, photographing China’s dust bowl. Others choose ice, erosion, floods, and Susan Derges presents a gallery of droplets and water patterns. My personal favourite out of the shortlist is Christian Cravo‘s black and white images on the spirituality of water, pictured here.
The exhibition is in Paris at the moment. I’m hoping it goes on tour, as there are some truly breathtaking images. For now, you’ll have to visit the online galleries.
