The World Fair Trade Organisation has declared the 9th of May 09 to be World Fair Trade Day.
The theme will be ‘Big Bang!!’, and drumming events are being held worldwide: “Kicking off on the date line, in the Cook Islands, circling the earth in a rolling programme of drumming events, through all cultures and traditions, from first to last light, closing in Samoa” promises the website. “A global day lasting 48 hours and bringing together musicians and media, supporters and performers, audiences and producers, politicians and voters, brands and economists, to open up markets and minds to sustainable living.”
If you want to take part, visit the website and download posters, ideas, and everything you need to bring the Big Bang to your school, church, shop or street.
okay.
Thanks Robin, it was Teresa in your office who put me on to this. Thanks for stopping by, and good luck with the ongoing project.
nice.
I really hope that World Fair Trade Day can someday be as big as Fairtrade Fortnight. I know that we will be planning events for WFTD 09. We’ve recently updated our calendar of events – http://blog.shared-interest.com/?page_id=115 If there is an event that you would like to join us in we’d love to have you. Likewise, if you have an event and would like some support, please let me know. Keep up the good work!
Hi Patrick, World Fair Trade Day is coming to town. It has considerable support but we have much more to do. It will be unlike any WFTD experienced before, please take a look at http://www.worldfairtradeday09.org/ and you will start to see why. WFTD09 will only be what you’d love it to be if you throw your weight behind it. If I can help please let me know. With the way the economy and the environment is crumbling this may be our last opportunity to make the change we all want to see. (Nice to know you jereny and thanks for this). R
Hi Robin. We will definitely be supporting WFTD09 with the same vigor as we are with FT14. You said, ‘If I can help please let me know.’ Well, actually there is something that I would like to discuss with you. Can you drop me an email with your contact datails? You can reach me at patrick.dodd (at) shared-interest.com
Cheers,
Patrick
