Reclaim your city on Park(ing) Day

This is the fourth year in a row that I’ve plugged Park(ing) Day. Like Buy Nothing Day, it’s a neat idea and a great opportunity for fun and creative protest. In brief, it’s a day for creating temporary parks on parking spaces in your town. Just turn up with some rolls of turf and some deckchairs, feed the meter, and sponsor a park for the day. It’s to raise awareness of the need for green spaces, and reclaim some public space from the traffic.

This year’s Park(ing) Day is scheduled for friday the 17th of September, so there’s still time to get a team together and create a park where you live. If you want to help out with one in Luton, give me a shout.
