- If you had to choose ten essential books as a ‘life canon’ for living well in the 21st century, what would they be?
- What boy doesn’t like secret tunnels and bunkers? I’ve head tantalising rumours of old tunnels and air raid shelters under High Town in Luton, but I bet they’ve got nothing on these beauties.
- Speaking of tunnels, ever wished you could get the train to New York? This new project would make that possible, albeit the long way round.
- Republican presidential nominee Michelle Bachmann has promised that as president, she would bring gasoline prices back under $2 a gallon. Cue much laughter from anyone with half a brain, but it is technically possible. Not advisable, sustainable or entirely ethical, but possible.

Not just rumours Jeremy, there are tunnels built to be air raid shelters under High Town in Luton: http://bit.ly/1p6zhRS.
This urban explorer may well have been in them at some stage: http://bit.ly/1p6z4hM.
I think I know where the entrance is – I’ll let you know if I see you around.
Excellent, thanks for the links. Sounds like me might need to organise a little field trip!
I think the entrance is locked and I am sure neither of us would want to break a lock to get in.
Not as exciting, but perhaps organised tours are the way forward. One for Luton Culture to explore (in more ways than one)?
Hmm, yes. Would draw the line at breaking and entering. There’s some footage online of people entering a manhole into a Luton bomb shelter, but it’s the not the HighTown one.
