What we learned this week

  • What boy doesn’t like secret tunnels and bunkers? I’ve head tantalising rumours of old tunnels and air raid shelters under High Town in Luton, but I bet they’ve got nothing on these beauties.
  • Republican presidential nominee Michelle Bachmann has promised that as president, she would bring gasoline prices back under $2 a gallon. Cue much laughter from anyone with half a brain, but it is technically possible. Not advisable, sustainable or entirely ethical, but possible.

  1. I think the entrance is locked and I am sure neither of us would want to break a lock to get in.

Not as exciting, but perhaps organised tours are the way forward. One for Luton Culture to explore (in more ways than one)?

    1. Hmm, yes. Would draw the line at breaking and entering. There’s some footage online of people entering a manhole into a Luton bomb shelter, but it’s the not the HighTown one.
