What we learned this week

  • 2011 was the driest in 90 years in the UK, and this winter has so far been the driest on record. Maybe time to fit another water butt somewhere before the growing season begins…
  • If you’ve got BBC iPlayer where you are, there’s a great radio doc up at the moment on genetically modifying insects to stop the spread of disease.

  1. Prophet of doom or true prophecy? – Genetically modified insects – I could not help wondering, when we’ve magnificently reduced the number of insects what will happen to the numbers of birds and then, how will nature act quite by nature, and what then…….?
