A couple of years ago I read Margaret Atwood intriguing series of essays on debt, Payback. It’s a wide-ranging exploration of debt in all its forms, from economic to social, environmental and criminal. (Here’s my review) Considering how much debt is shaping our society and our future at the moment, it’s a great topic for philosophical reflection, and I recommend it. I mention the book now however because it has somehow been turned into a film. I’m not sure Payback the movie will be as eloquent as the book is, but the director has precedent with the film Manufactured Landscapes, which I like. We shall have to see.
