You might not have heard of the Niels Bugge Cartoon Award. I hadn’t. It was set up by a Danish hotelier last year, and it’s just run for a second year. Humble it may be, but the calibre of social cartooning is very high. Submissions were invited on the topic ‘the seas in our hands’, and hundreds of artists from over 70 countries participated. The catalogue is full of eye-opening images and striking ideas, and I can highly recommend clicking over and browsing.
Here’s the third place cartoon from Poland’s Pawel Kuczynski to whet your appetite.
There’s something hauntingly beautiful about Kuczynski’s picture. Thanks for posting it.
