I’ve written about the World Economic Forum’s Global Risk report before, as it’s a useful synthesis of what our world leaders are worrying about – and that’s business and academic leaders rather than politicians. This year the most likely risk is large scale involuntary migration, which we have already. The highest impact risk is ‘failure of climate change mitigation and adaptation.’
That’s interesting, because we used to just say ‘climate change’. That’s now a given, and the risk is that our efforts to contain it won’t be enough, and that we won’t be able to adapt fast enough. The shift in language is telling.
