The Montreal Protocol remains one of the environmental movement’s high points. It’s the international agreement that limited CFCs and secured the ozone layer from further deterioration. But I wasn’t aware that CFCs are also greenhouse gases, and if we hadn’t acted to phase them out 30 years ago, the battle to prevent runaway climate change would already have been lost:
