The Earthbound Report

Whether we like it or not, we have one planet. Despite the best intentions of .com billionaires, this is our only home. Earth is the one place we know that supports life. It is from this dust that we emerged, and to this dust that we will return. We are earthbound.

We should live as if we intend to stay.

How will make ourselves a lasting home on this one planet, in ways that provide a fair share to every human being? How will we do that without destroying non-human life, or disrupting the earth’s systems that we depend on?

This is the challenge that humanity faces in the 21st century, and why I am renaming the blog from Make Wealth History to The Earthbound Report.

There’s a double meaning to earthbound. On the one hand, it means that we are bound to the earth. It could also mean that we are bound for the earth, as if it’s the destination we are en route towards. That second meaning applies too. We are not where we need to be, but we can look forward to our arrival in that place.

Earthbound.report has been active for a little while, and if all goes to plan, I’ll sort out the technical side of things over the next day or two. Regular readers should hardly notice the difference, but please excuse any hiccups if things go a little astray during the transition.

If you’d like to help, please spread the word about the new name. If you have links anywhere to Make Wealth History, updating them to https://earthbound.report will help the search engines of this world to catch up to the change.

As always, thank you to all those who take an interest in the blog. Thank you for your support and encouragement, and for keeping my aspirations for it high.

  1. A little cryptic to explain to others but probably better than anything with economic or alternative economics or anti-growth…

Maybe a strapline will help with the new name when sharing with others?

Seated and ready to go with The Earthbound Report 😁 Best of luck!

      1. I like the strap line idea to – How about ‘living well on planet earth’
I loved your talk at the Lewes Corbynomics by the way – thank you for recommending I look up your blog too! I will be spreading the word.

  2. I like the new name. How does it link to the faith roots that led to the creation of Make Wealth History? It seems almost pointedly opposed to the ‘heaven bound’/’bound for glory’ attitude of some religious people?

  3. Good luck with the re-brand – my email notifications continue uninterrupted so you’ve got that right!. As with others above, I liked the old name but understand the need for change. I do wonder if I would have started following you without the original name as it was definitely your understanding of how our economic system underpins/is responsible for our present predicament that drew me to your blog. While I have always identified with the sandal wearing, hippy, peace and love aesthetic (not, in my case, bound up with spirituality) I have always also recognised that we have a technical, systemic problem that needs to be addressed as such, and it is this that I really admire in your writing. The original name gave a clue to that in ways that I think the new one does not. However, it is, of course, the content that counts so keep up the great work.

  4. Wonderful to see you joining the movement. It’s so important to raise awareness and tell the world what it can do to make sure the planet continues to support us.

Good luck with the new direction, friend!
